Helping TEENS live life to the fullest.

How we Support Teens

  • Our Teen Specialists

The best mental health journey begins with the right therapy fit. Several of our therapists are experienced working with teens - Lauren Roth, Jamie Sarten, Aricka Marshall - and the unique struggles that often present themselves during adolescence: social media and screen time, adult expectations but childlike treatment, anxiety, depression, peer pressure, and parent conflict.

Lauren Roth has gained most of her clinical experience working with teens while in the private practice setting for the past five years. Her specialties with teens include working with neurodivergent thinkers (including those who have an Autism and/or ADHD diagnosis) and with teens seeking out performance counseling to improve either their grades or sports achievements.

Aricka Marshall has spent over 15 years in the school setting, specifically working with teens in a wide range of areas. Her specialties include working with neurodivergent teens, LGBTQIA+ teens, and anxiety disorders.

Jamie Sarten has gained her teen clinical experience both in the school setting and in private practice for the past eight years. Jamie specializes in LGBTQIA+ support and anxiety disorders.

  • Parent Fit

There are a variety of therapists who advertise teen therapy as a specialty. As a parent, knowing who to trust to support your teen is not an easy task. Here are important considerations when choosing a therapist. Is the therapist a licensed professional, and do they have experience with an evidenced-based treatment modality, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, or solution-focused therapy? At Mind Moving Therapy, all of our clinicians are masters-level Licensed Professional Counselors who performed their graduate work at an accredited university in the State of Texas. Additionally, all of our therapists work from a cognitive behavioral therapy framework, which is the most highly researched and evidenced-based therapy modality in the talk therapy space. Some of our therapists have other treatment modalities as well, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. In addition to checking experience and background, our therapists aim to work with you throughout the counseling process, perhaps through joint sessions or by providing progress updates. As a parent, you deserve to stay involved in the treatment process. We invite both parent(s) and their teen to join an initial free consultation, so that both parties may gain familiarity with the therapist’s treatment style and personality.

What other resources would you recommend for further research?

As always, our team stands ready to address any questions or concerns as you, your family, and your loved ones move through this space towards a healthy, happy, fulfilling life. However, we understand that it can be daunting to approach a new therapist or treatment plan, so if you prefer to research on your own, we have provided the following links which contain additional information and structure for your understanding, should you find them beneficial.
